As the official subsidence partner of Grand Designs Live, Mainmark UK took centre stage for the first time at the Grand Home event at Birmingham’s NEC in October).

Showcasing its depth of expertise in ground engineering solutions, Mainmark also appeared on stage at the Grand Designs Magazine theatre. It provided experts to lead discussions around sustainable ground strengthening, facilitating excavation, basement, and extension work for period properties, and its stand of advisors was on hand to guide homeowners facing their own subsidence challenges.
Grand Designs Live is the leading home design and renovation exhibition that takes place every two years and is attended by leading construction, lifestyle and self-build brands. This year, Grand Designs Live also featured a Grand Designs house at the NEC.
Signs of Subsidence
This is the first time Mainmark has attended such an event, which also coincided with UK Construction Week.
Tom Kavanagh, General Manager for Mainmark UK, said: “Despite an estimated 4.5 million UK homes being at risk of subsidence, it has been estimated that over half of homeowners don’t know what to look out for.
“So, this leading consumer event, Grand Designs Live was an opportunity for us to lead educational seminars, spark dynamic debates, and help homeowners from across the UK spot, monitor and treat signs of subsidence in their properties.
“It was great to take part in such an array of discussions as the event’s subsidence partner – from sustainable ground improvement to home improvements on period properties. With the home improvement and repair sector set to grow by 40 per cent according to Checkatrade, those with passions and projects were able to discuss concerns with out team on stand, listen to our experts and pick up a few tips and tricks on how to improve their property.”
Construction and Home Improvements
The popular home improvement event showcases the latest trends in property from construction to interiors and from smart home technologies to renovating outdoor space. Visitors had the opportunity to meet and talk to an array of exhibitions, discuss their own experiences with experts and listen to live talks from renowned British designer, writer and Grand Designs TV presenter, Kevin McCloud.
